Frequently Asked Questions

What must a GST invoice include in India?
A GST invoice must include: the words "Tax Invoice", your GSTIN, the invoice number and date, the buyer's GSTIN for B2B transactions, HSN or SAC codes, the taxable value, applicable GST rates (CGST/SGST or IGST), and the total amount payable.
What is GSTIN?
GSTIN (Goods and Services Tax Identification Number) is a 15-digit unique identifier assigned to every GST-registered business in India. It must appear on all GST invoices you issue.
What is the difference between CGST, SGST, and IGST?
CGST (Central GST) and SGST (State GST) are levied on intra-state supplies — each is half the total GST rate. IGST (Integrated GST) is levied on inter-state supplies and equals the full GST rate.
When is a GST invoice mandatory?
A GST invoice is mandatory for every taxable supply made by a GST-registered business. For B2C transactions below ₹200, a consolidated invoice can be issued at the end of the day instead of individual invoices.
